June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. Pride Month was initially inspired by the 1969 Stonewall Uprising and works to achieve equal justice and opportunity for LGBTQIA+ Americans. The purpose of the month is to recognize the impact that LGBTQIA+ individuals have had on society locally, nationally, and internationally.
Theatre Tampa Bay recognizes the work of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and the contributions they make to the stage, companies, and audiences in our area and beyond. Theatre Tampa Bay stands with the community in celebration. We love, embrace, and support our LGBTQIA+ members and their worldwide family. Their family is our family. Family is about Love and Support. LGBTQIA+ contributions to the Arts and Society are vast and diverse. And even with decades of striving for Equality, their stories of our shared humanity still need to be heard. They still need to be recognized as part of the stories of our human race. We strive for equality together.
