Brief Bio Text: JAN WALLACE – actress, teacher, director. Jan trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and New York’s Playwrights Horizon’s Theater School. She has appeared extensively off-Broadway and in New York Regional theatres. Roles include: Shirley Valentine (Shirley), Noises Off (Dotty Otley/Mrs. Clacket), The Prime of Miss Jean Broadie (Jean Broadie), The Hollow (Lady Lucy Angetell), Manhattan Women (Judy), All Over (The Wife), The Shadow Box (Maggie), California Suite (Diana), The Odd Couple – Female Version (Florence Unger), Run For Your Wife (Mary) and many more. She was the Director of the School for the Arts for the Great Neck Arts Centre in Great Neck Long Island and the Director of Great Neck’s Children’s Musical Theatre and the Great Neck Youth Theatre. Her directing credits for musicals include: The Wizard of Oz, Oliver, Annie, Joseph, Fiddler on the Roof, Little Shop of Horrors, and for dramas – All My Sons and Run for your Wife. As well as directing, she taught acting to children and teens in Great Neck for over ten years, including coaching high school students prepare for entry into college theatre programs. Since moving to Sarasota she has taught at the Venice Theatre and the Asolo, and she has performed with the Asolo Rep, the Banyan Theatre and the Players Theatre. She performed at the Sarasolo Festival in 2016 and 2017. In 2017 year she performed her one-woman play Shirley and Me at Sarasota’s Sarasolo Festival and New York’s Planet Connections Theatre Festivity where she was nominated for Outstanding Performance and Outstanding Production of a one-person play. She is reviving her performance of Shirley Valentine in the one-woman play of that name in February 2018.
